Choosing porcelain tile
Porcelain is pressed from fine clay and fired until it absorbs half a percent of water or less. At that density it is waterproof as a material, and it is the tile that can go outdoors.
The most common format is 24 by 48 inches. Squares run to 48 by 48, and the wood looks come as planks up to 60 inches long. Rectified pieces are ground to size after firing, so their edges are straight and the joints can stay narrow. Wood and cement looks are matte. Marble and stone come matte or polished.
